The market fountain was created in 1997 by the sculptor Horst Engelhard from Jäkelsbruch. There is a boulder on a hill, fastened with natural stones from which water trickles. A small bronze devil stands on the boulder, holding a piece of gold in his hand. The devil is looking east. The mermaid holds a pearl in her hand as the “pearl of the Oderbruch” and a life-size fisherman with a net establishes the connection to fishing, which once played a major role in Wriezen. The man with the board in front
Head came later, is directed against the stupidity of the people and should make us all think.
Quarrels in the run-up to the installation caused a nationwide sensation, as both the Protestant and the Catholic church community demanded a referendum. This took place on September 7, 1997. The majority of citizens opted for the fountain and thus supported the decision of the city council of March 26, 1997, who opted for this fountain.

A really beautiful fountain.
It is also advisable to read the sayings, which are intended to stimulate thought.
For example:
"This is how the world works:
One has the bag.
The other has the money."
