The flood obelisk is located between the market square and the train station in Wriezen. It is a thank you to all the helpers who prevented a flood of the century in Wriezen in the summer of 1997. The sign is impressive with the information that the top of the obelisk marks the high water level if the dykes were to break in the summer of 1997. The brick ring on the obelisk, on the other hand, marks the high water level of 1947, the highest high water level in Wriezen to date.
