The 110 hectare castle park with its rich stock of foreign trees has been declared a landscape protection area. Another source distinguishes a 13-hectare core area, which is adjoined by a 113-hectare forest park. It was created around the middle of the 19th century by the then lord of the castle, Curt Friedrich Ernst von Watzdorf.
