Starting in 2022, a new tourist attraction, the Harz Witch Kingdom, was developed in Rothesütte on the grounds of the former border company. It opened on October 1, 2025, under the name Hex – The Adventure World at the World's Largest Witch's Broomstick. The main feature is an accessible observation tower in the shape of a giant witch's broomstick. The tower is 70 meters high and has a viewing platform at a height of 44 meters. Visitors can ascend via stairs or an elevator. Two giant slides of different lengths offer a way down. The 100-meter-long slide from the upper platform has a height difference of 38 meters. The second, 35-meter-long slide starts from the middle platform with a height difference of 13 meters. Riders slide down in a zip line bag at speeds of up to 30 meters per second. The broomstick (antenna) is 24 meters long. Approximately 2,600 steel components and 22,000 bolts were used in its construction, with a total weight of around 452 tons. Source: Wikipedia

Great playground under the witch's broom (which is also accessible without an entrance fee) - but of course the children then also want to go on the broom with the long slides (quite expensive).

This new Harz attraction has now opened after about a year of construction. (October 2025) Surprisingly high entrance fees, even for children! Why are there only day tickets? One to two hours would be perfectly sufficient. To share something positive: Overall, we still enjoyed it. Access to the truly excellent playground is (so far) free of charge. Only the parking fee is payable, which is currently reasonable at €5 for a maximum of four hours.

Unfortunately, it won't be finished as of October 2025. The observation tower looks massive, and the view from the top should be fantastic. It looks like you'll have to buy a ticket to climb the tower. You can also drive there and leave your car in the parking lot next to it. You can also get there by bike or on foot.
