On Easter Sunday we were in the Thuringian Forest. Starting from Neuhaus over the Rennsteig down to the Scheibe Alsbach reservoir. There is a wonderful panoramic path around the lake. But then we are back up through the Schwarzatal, which is absolutely idyllic and recommendable to the source of the Schwarza. You can't tell from the fact that it is supposed to be the deepest fissure source in Europe. But from what depth it rises I could not yet find out. :-(
Then it went uphill to the Weidmannsheil refuge and from there back over the Rennsteig.
On the Rennsteig there are a large number of different boundary stones that tell the Thuringian history in their own way.
It was a very nice tour with a great Easter sun!

On Good Friday we were near Arnstadt and discovered a very beautiful and idyllic corner around Hausen. Not only the Wipfra runs idyllically through the valley, a very interesting old fortified church can also be seen in the village, which dates back to the 12th century.
Hausen is on the Bach and Luther trails.

Today we took advantage of the dry weather and ran a lap around Auerstedt in the direction of Finne. The first port of call was the Vier Linden in honor of Napoleon. Afterwards we admired the Adonisröschen on this southern slope and then hiked back up to the high plateau via the beggar woman and the old post road. We found an absolutely idyllic pond there.
On the way back we passed the crash site of the British Lancaster, which crashed here in March 1945, and then visited the grave belonging to it in the Auerstedt cemetery.
All in all a very nice and interesting little hike again!

It was actually supposed to be a little tour on which we wanted to collect fresh wild garlic. But the "soaked" among us will frown: "Wild garlic on the northern slope ???" Yes that was our lesson today that we learned.
But it was a very nice tour and as something new we discovered the Napoleon linden trees, where we had a nice picnic in a nice setting.
Once again it was a nice lap in the sun, rain and drizzle - a little bit of everything. ;-)

Today we were in my hometown and hiked from the former Steiger brewery through the Steiger to the Waldhaus. From there via the panorama path to Bischleben, or as the place was maliciously often called "St. Urin" :-(.
Then the tour went along the Bachstelzenweg to the railway line and then back to the Steiger. There we visited the Hedemann memorial, which I haven't seen until today.
It was a very nice tour and luckily we didn't need our rain jackets. It only started to trickle when we were already back in the car on the way home.

Many thanks to Romy and Thomas from EF for the great idea and invitation! The hike was great, it had a lot of familiar things, but also a lot of new things!
We parked the car at the paper mill and took the bus into town and then back out to Ammerbach - absolutely comfortable! There the tour started, which was very interesting and informative in the first section up to the Bismark tower. Interested hikers or families with children should plan a lot more time! ;-)
The second section from the Bismark tower to the B7 was very calm and relaxed because it ran through pure nature.
The third section was the most delightful. To my own shame, I have to admit that I didn't know these trails, even though I lived in the immediate vicinity in Jena am Steiger for a few years. Why go somewhere for what feels like ages when we have such great nature right in front of our noses ??? I was really excited about the ascent, although I got a little tangled up with my own planning at this point - but that was due to my own inability.
After just over three hours of hiking back to the paper mill, I can look back on a great tour and I can still see the individual pictures and enjoy them.
@ Romy and Thomas from EF, I'll say you hiked with, because you somehow have to work the different stages together. If that is wrong, please give a sign and I will delete it.

Today at noon in the short sunshine in Weimar used the time to run a short lap in the park and back over the center.

Today we were in the Märzenbecher paradise between Großschwabhausen and Döbritschen and then hiked on to Vollradisroda. We didn't want to go straight to the village there, so we enjoyed the peace and quiet in the forest along the Bauernallee to the Stern and back again.
If it weren't for Corona, we would have liked to sit down at Gasthaus Vollradisroda and eat something delicious.
When we got back to the parking lot, it was a lot more crowded than in the morning. The many people met us on the way back to Großschwabhausen.

Today we drove to Closewitz, parked the car on the outskirts and went down to the Rautal to the Winterlingwiesen. Then it went past Closewitz over the former training area of the Russian tanks to the Windknollen, an elevation from which one has a very nice view over Jena to the Leuchtenburg.
We thank Peter that he was again very gracious with the weather! ;-)
