The western shore of Lake Einfelder is indeed very beautiful and well worth hiking on.

You're standing with your back to the church here. From here, you actually get a good view across the water. There's a nice playground with rest areas. A really big (and peaceful) goose greeted us here.

The path leads directly along the shore. There's also a small bridge here. The view across the lake is very beautiful. There are a few benches where you can rest.

My dear wife and I passed by here on our "Eider Valley with Blue Bridge" tour on July 21, 1925. We walked over the blue steel bridge. We either missed this wooden bridge or walked over it blindly.

Definitely avoid it in June, as there are more mosquitoes in the ponds than we've ever seen in Sweden!

Highlights of the hike: • Natural paths: Mostly gravel or well-paved paths with a beautiful view of the lake. • Swimming areas & rest areas: Several places invite you to linger, have a picnic or, in summer, swim. • Margarethenschanze: A historic rampart fortress from the 8th/9th century on the western shore. • Bird watching: Many water birds can be spotted, especially in the morning hours.
