This house was built to Storm's design as his retirement home. It was clad entirely in slate. He lived there with his family from May 1881 until his death on July 4, 1888

Storm was also a guest here. The then lord of the manor, Dr. Heinrich Wachs, like Dr. Johannes Mannhardt to the guests of the literary reading evenings

The "Mannhardtsche Knabeninstitut" in this house was headed in Storm's time by Dr. Johannes Mannhardt and his wife Helen Mary. The poet already valued the pedagogue at his Husumer Zeir and sent his second eldest daughter Lucie to this school.
