In the middle of the 19th century, a gasworks was built here on the banks of the Spree, which later supplied all of Berlin. Since 2002, the EnergieForum has resided in the former central warehouse of the plant and offers office space and space for events. The converted building was one of the first large commercial properties in Germany to be built using low-energy construction.
