Thanks to the Romans, Nijmegen is the oldest city in the Netherlands. Unfortunately it was pretty much destroyed in the war. But some historic buildings have been restored.

Luckily we have been to Amsterdam a few times. It rained all day: scary. In any case, museums and pubs were full to the brim and so were some bar-goers.

A short walk through Rotterdam was also included. The weather was kind to us. You should definitely visit the market hall, which is actually more of a food temple. Also a real eye-catcher architecturally.

We took a boat through a small part of the port of Rotterdam. It was enough for an insight.
With a throughput of around 450 million tons per year, the port of Rotterdam is the largest port in Europe. Until 2004 it was the largest port in the world, but it has now been overtaken by several Asian ports…
