The former fishing village of Haraki lies on a crescent-shaped bay. The long pebble beach of the quiet holiday resort is divided into two sections by a promontory. The waterfront is lined with hip beach bars, family-friendly pizzerias and lively taverns for meze and seafood. In between are pensions and

A relaxed tour from Agathi Beach to Felsentor, that's what we planned for today.

But it has been shown again that Rhodes is a bathing island, not a hiking island. The Komoot map even shows a green hiking trail, but we were still standing in front of a professional fence at the end of the beach section

On the 3rd highest mountain of the island, the "Profitis Ilias", 798 m high, is the "Hotel Elafos" and opposite this very special place, the "Villa de Vecchi".

      "Hotel Elafos"

Our visit starts at the large cemetery above Archangelos. Lots of marble; unfortunately the chapel was closed.

Archangelos, named after Archangel Michael, is the largest village on the island with around 5,500 inhabitants. It is a very picturesque place where the art of ceramics and carpet weaving has

Our destination today was a beautiful green valley with small streams flowing through it all year round. All of these streams are collected in an artificial lake that waters the Kolymbia plain. The tunnels and irrigation systems were built by Italians in the middle of the last century. The approx. 1

Now we have a rental car for a few days. Due to the location of the pick-up station, it was a good idea to visit the "Valley of the Butterflies" (€3 per person) after picking up the vehicle today.

Ok butterflies in October?!? Very unlikely. 🤔 But we did see some of them, unfortunately always flying

We took the bus from Faliraki to Lindos, 45 minutes for €4.50 per person. A shuttle bus was already waiting at the bus station, which took us to the entrance to Lindos for 50 cents. We were happy to take advantage of that at 34 °.

Once the capital of Rhodes island, Lindos is now a picturesque village

Today we took bus no. 40 to Rhodes town (40 minutes travel time from Faliraki for €2.50 per person). The bus station is located directly at the Mandraki port, "the" starting point for exploring the city.

Rhodes is still well attended for the end of September. Chalkidicki, on the other hand, was dead years ago in September.

Today we had 32 ° at noon and now at 10 p.m. it is still 26 ° warm. 😓 We would like to give our loved ones in Germany a few degrees and sunshine. 👍😎

We fled from the persistent rain on the Dutch North Sea coast. Look at the weather map, where does the sun shine, that's how we landed on Rhodes.

First impressions showed us that Rhodes is different from Thassos, where we were in May/June 2022.

But more on that later when we know this island better.
