On the second stage of our journey home, we made a short hospital and stopover in the beautiful and well-kept Freudenstadt, founded in 1599. We have never seen a city with so many arcades around the huge, almost square market square. A lively town with about 25,000 inhabitants, which in our opinion is worth visiting.

After a fantastic breakfast, we started well-rested from our hotel. First, we oriented ourselves towards the town center of Glottertal to see the St. Blasius Church, a neo-Gothic basilica from 1893 to 1895 with a 60-meter-high tower. Past the cemetery, we went into the vineyards.

The Schwarzwälder Freilichtmuseum Vogtsbauernhof in Gutach is the oldest open-air museum in Baden-Württemberg and shows the historical life, living, and working in the Black Forest.
The museum was opened in 1964. The namesake Vogtsbauernhof is the only building that has stood in its original location

On our drive to the Black Forest, we planned an overnight stop in Schriesheim, a village on the Baden Wine Route. Here there are remnants of (Schwer-) slate mining from the early 19th century, which we explored on our hike. The slate gorge in the massive rock positively surprised and impressed us.
