About Joachim

„Laufen ist eines der ersten Dinge, die ein Kind tun möchte und eines der Dinge, die man am schwersten aufgeben will. Laufen ist eine Bewegung, die keine Turnhalle braucht. Es ist ein medizinisches Rezept ohne Medikament [...].“ (aus „The Magic Of Walking“ von Aaron Sussman und Ruth Goode, 1967)

We start our sightseeing tour at Mandraki harbor and stroll along the water to Elli Beach and the northernmost point of Rhodes. The Turkish southwest coast seems to be within reach from here. Our next destination is Monte Smith Hill with the remains of an ancient acropolis. Finally, it goes down to the city that dates back to 408 BC. BC was founded on the occasion of the merger of three cities as a common capital and built as a planned city. The entire old town, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988, is surrounded by a four-kilometer fortress wall. The wall of the impressive fortress of the Order of St. John from the 14th century was divided into eight defensive sections and assigned to groups of knights of different "tongues" (Provence, Auvergne, France, Italy, Aragon, Castile, England and Germany).

On the circular hike we discover many small beaches - we particularly like Oasis Beach.A visit to the thermal baths of Kallithea, which have been known since the time of the Roman emperor Augustus, is an absolute highlight. The beautiful thermal baths and park can be visited for an entry price of 3 euros per person. Even if the six springs have now fallen dry, it is worth visiting the rotunda and the park with the elaborately designed mosaics of white and black pebbles. The further way leads us to Koskinou. After a stop at the small restaurant Kotsakis, we are strengthened for the way back to Ammoudes.

We start our tour in the hotel in Ammoudes and hike along the sea to Faliraki. We particularly like the area around the small port with the Ágioi Apóstoloi chapel. On the coast we continue to Mandomata Beach and uphill to the Astronomy Cafe with Astro Garden. From there we get to the most beautiful section of the path - the path down to the idyllic Anthony Quinn Bay (Vagies Bay). Our way back is above Ladiko Beach to Faliraki and from there by public bus to the hotel.

Our circular hike starts at the Lindos Central Bus Station and after a short time leads up to the mountains on stony paths. Up here it smells wonderfully of sage and thyme, the looks and impressions are fantastic, the tranquility is wonderful. At Vlicha Beach we stop at Aqua Terra and then hike back to Lindos. In the car-free old town we stroll through the narrow streets below the Acropolis, admire the captain's houses and the pebble pavement. Finally we visit the beautiful Paulus Bay. According to legend, the natural bay of Apostle Paul is said to have served as a landing point on Rhodes.

Today's hike takes us in wonderful autumn weather over the processional path to the Pleistermühle. Opposite the very idyllic country inn on the Werse there is currently a corn maze. The labyrinth is operated by the country inn in cooperation with the Schmermann farm. A great idea for the whole family that, in addition to exercising in the fresh air, also stimulates the senses. Our path leads us along the Werse, where we enjoy the beautiful reflections in the water. At the Nobis Krug café and restaurant, we cross Warendorfer Straße and turn directly back onto the footpath along the Werse. A short time later we reach the Handorf district. We walk over Boniburgallee to the Dyckburg Church. The Catholic church was built by Johann Conrad Schlaun, the small chapel was consecrated as early as 1740.At the end of the 19th century a round building was added to the church. The church is very popular for weddings due to its idyllic location.

We first explore the Hanseatic city of Lübeck along the Trave and the Holsten and Museum Harbor. Over the Holstentorbrücke we reach the landmark of the city, the Holstentor ("Holstein Gate").From the brick Gothic city gate we stroll through the ramparts at the city moat to the Malerwinkel. The views from here over the Obertrave to the "City of Seven Towers" (seven towers of the five main Gothic churches on the old town hill) are wonderful. We get to the old town over the Dankwartsbrücke. The over a thousand cultural monuments here have been part of the UNESCO World Heritage since 1987.

Our round trip begins in Bliesdorf-Strand and leads to Grömitz on the Waterkant. The seaside resort (since 1813) or the Baltic Sea spa (since 1949) has a. a wonderful sandy beach, a beautiful beach promenade, one of the longest piers in Germany (398 m) and a pretty marina. The church from the 13th century is historically significant. The view back to Bliesdorf-Strand takes place above the steep coast.

The morning hour has gold in its mouth ... After the initial rain, we set off again with Balou after a delicious breakfast to do a little morning lap with him.We quickly reach the hiking trail and enjoy the beautiful views of the Wupper valley and Solingen. We hike over Stiepelhaus and Teschensudberg, past beautiful meadows, through deciduous forests and along pretty slate houses. The three of us like the Bergisches Land with its many forests and the varied ups and downs again very much.
