On the northeast shore of Lake Bistensee, you'll find the cozy community bathing area with a bathing pontoon. There's a lawn, a shallow sandy beach, a playground, and restrooms—perfect for a relaxing break by the water. Hungry after a swim? Then treat yourself to something tasty on the "Lake Terrace" terrace—with a beautiful view of the lake. A miniature golf course awaits you next door. Parking is free, but the bathing area is unattended.

A quiet, easily accessible hiking section with ample parking and two wonderful swimming spots. However, in westerly winds, algae and plant matter can drift onto the shore. The southern, car-free section in particular offers pure nature and relaxing hiking moments.

The Bünsdorf parish includes the villages of Bistensee, Borgstedt, Bünsdorf, Groß Wittensee, Holzbunge, Klein Wittensee and Neu Duvenstedt. We have three places of worship: the church of St. Katharinen in Bünsdorf and the chapels in Borgstedt and Groß Wittensee. Our cemeteries are also located in all three places. THE “SCHOTTENSTEIN” This memorial stone commemorates six Scottish paratroopers who tragically drowned during a NATO exercise in 1974. Over the years, the grief of Scots and Sehestedt residents developed into a close friendship and a shared festival culture.

In relation to its surface area (1030 ha) and its volume (98 million m³), the Wittensee has a small above-ground catchment area (48.7 km²), so it has natural conditions for a nutrient-poor state. The community bathing area in Bünsdorf has a large lawn, the shore area is sandy, the lake bed slopes very gently
