The cliffs near Schönhagen on the Baltic Sea truly offer a beautiful view and are a true natural experience. Schönhagen is located on the Schleswig-Holstein Baltic Sea coast between Kappeln and Eckernförde, directly on Gelting Bay. The coast here is characterized by an active cliff line that is constantly changing due to erosion. From the upper edges of the cliffs, you have a wide, unobstructed view of the Baltic Sea. In clear weather, you can see to the horizon, watch ships and sailboats or simply enjoy the shimmering water. The view is particularly charming due to the contrast: the turquoise blue and gray of the Baltic Sea meets the yellow-brown sand and earth of the cliffs, often accompanied by green grass and bushes above. The sometimes rugged cliff edges and the water-shaped structures of the coast are fascinating to behold. In contrast to many developed promenades, the cliffs near Schönhagen are very natural. This contributes to the tranquility and authenticity of the experience. Especially in the evening, when the sun sets over the sea, the cliffs transform into a magical place. The colors of the sky are reflected in the water and the silhouette of the coast stands out picturesquely. Down on the beach, you can walk directly below the cliffs. From there, the coast appears even more impressive, and you have the opportunity to search for fossils or snail shells exposed by erosion. Often, narrow paths or wider walking trails lead directly above the cliff edge. These not only offer the best views, but also a feeling of freedom and space. The Schönhagen cliffs are a perfect place to experience the beauty of the Baltic Sea in its original form and unwind. A visit is well worth it.
