Between Tesperhude and Lauenburg, the western part of the transnational Elbe River Landscape Biosphere Reserve runs along the High Bank of the Elbe. Forested, steeply rising Elbe slopes with many incisions and notched valleys characterize the landscape and offer wonderful views of the great river from the beautiful hiking and biking trails. Regularly flooded alluvial forests along the banks are the habitat of the beavers, who feel at home here again. A two kilometer long beaver nature trail invites you to hike in the footsteps of Europe's largest rodent.
