A very narrow path above the Elbe. You have to run concentrated and careful so that you don't slide down the slope. Completely unsuitable for bicycles and strollers. But it is really fun to hike here because the nature is unique here.

An exciting, exhausting and at the same time beautiful path, which is sometimes very narrow, but always rewarded with a beautiful view and beautiful nature.

This upper Elbe hiking trail is also called the Oberstleutnantweg (Lieutenant Colonel's Trail).
It is a narrow, idyllic path that runs below the picturesque houses on the hillside at Elbkamp and above the Elbe River Path.
The trail was named after Georg Brinkmann
        (1840 Isenbüttel near Hanover – 1924 Lauenburg).
He came from an old officer family and retired as a lieutenant colonel in 1891. He rode along this path every morning.
In open areas of the deciduous forest, you can enjoy wonderful views of the Elbe.
The Oberstleutnantweg was impassable for a long time due to fallen trees – but now it is open again.
You do have to walk carefully and concentrate there.
Some sections of the trail should be approached with caution.
But I really enjoy it when there is a bit more variety.
