“The Metamorphic Bank of Mr. Lienau” is a sculpture by Manfred Ritthoff-Lienau on the banks of the Alster. The artist had erected the sculpture in 2000 without permission and actually wanted to take it down again, but the city was against it. So it still stands in its place today.

The sculpture 'The Metamorphic Bank of Mr. Lienau' was erected by the self-taught artist Manfred Ritthoff-Lienau on the west bank of the Outer Alster at the level of Alte Rabenstrasse. Ritthoff-Lienau (* 1955) has been distributing his works in Hamburg since 1990, without ordering and without permission to display them.
