Wow🤩, but let's start from the beginning.
After last night's thunderstorm, we set off at 6:30 AM in a fresh 15°C. The first 14 km were on asphalt with no elevation gain, and after 8.5 km, the only bar of the day. So, we made the most of it!

Today it went by plane from Düsseldorf to Madrid and then by bus to León.
I know this city by now from various visits and so I only did a short tour. Getting the stamp in the museum of the cathedral and the pilgrim's passport in the souvenir shop opposite was a must.

Haven't been here in a long time, and then I even started in the opposite direction, so it was an almost new tour 😅.

Since I simply like this varied hike on easy and pleasant paths, I took advantage of today's weather to "check on things" again 😉.

The plan was a dike hike.
After I had left Elmshorn, it continued beautifully over the top of the dike for the next few kilometers. Again and again I was able to use crossing aids for the fences and enjoy the landscape. But then the crossings were partly secured with solid fences, barbed wire and cattle

I had promised my mother a trip, so we took advantage of the beautiful spring weather for a visit to the arboretum.
A place to unwind and relax, with many benches among the plants, trees, and ponds.
The entrance fee of €10.00 is definitely worth it.

I've been cycling past the Wilhelm for over 30 years, but today I finally took a break on the way home. 💪
The climb to the monument was tough 🥵, but the views were a beautiful reward and it was completely empty there at just after 8 am 🤩.

Before I sit on the train home for half a day, I wanted to use the beautiful weather for a final tour.

What a dreamlike alpine stage. The effort was definitely worth it. I could still stand up there looking at the landscape and taking photos. It was so beautiful🫠🫠🫠
