Today a classic sightseeing tour through beautiful Braga. I've been to this city in 1999 or 2000. That was on June 24th, on St. John the highest holiday in BragaIn the old town center everything is relatively compact on top of one another. But I wanted to see something special, namely the SC Braga football stadium. This was built for the EM 2004, and has the special feature that it was blown straight out of the rock (de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Est%C3%A1dio_Municipal_de_Braga?wprov=sfla1).
However, this little excursion was a complete flop, as you can hardly see anything of this stadium from the outside. Then I took the long-distance bus back to Porto directly to the airport because I will be staying there tomorrow at the airport hotel due to an early flight home. Great thing with the new one from the bus from Braga to the airport; saved over an hour as a result.

Checked out of the hotel early and with the rental bike part of the way yesterday (to the bridge at Murtosa back again. Then straight on down the peninsula ... And a short stop in Torreira a Bica and two Pastéis de NataActually arrived exactly right at the ferry port S. Jacinto ... That was exactly enough for a beer before departure 😋After arriving in the industrial port of Aveiro, I wanted to go back to the town of Barra ... There I noticed a small restaurant that was full of locals. I always look for such places ... There were no menus there, but the landlord told me 3-4 things. The pork from the oven was wonderful, the white house wine was a bit too sparkling and sweet for me.Slowly cycled through the town in Costa Nova and shot many photos. Although I already have so many of them .....

I borrowed another bike in Aveiro that morning. The destination was Praia Furadouro near Ovar; has been there several times. Actually, the idea was to combine it with a little detour to the lake of Fermentelos, but I dropped it again due to lack of time. Good as it turned out later ...The route along the N109 to Estarreja is not ideal for a bike tour, but there are hardly any alternatives. After Estarreja, I chose the southern route via Murtosa, which was quite nice. Discovered a natural monument with the approx. 500-year-old tree near Veiros; but also leave the main route briefly. But after Murtosa it started: Headwind of the finest kind ... This didn't stop until Furadouro 😒 Was completely whacked in the truest sense of the word ...Unfortunately, the wind in Furadouro also held up into the late evening hours. So the dinner with delicious sardines was unfortunately moved to indoor.Despite everything, a successful day.

Dropped off my bike in Lisbon this morning and took the train to Aveiro. A wonderful summer weather awaited me.Have been here many times, despite the city walking up and down a bit ... I love it here! Was here for the first time in 1998 and have always remained loyal 😁See for yourself, the Venice of Portugal ...
Unfortunately the clock did not record the entire route ...Bike again from tomorrow!

Today I actually wanted to go to Setubal and take the train back. But then I decided differently on the way ...On the one hand, I've been on the road for two and a half hours and haven't even had half of it, on the other hand, the constant alternation of rain and sun.Was such a nice tour too.I found the beach at Caparica really beautiful.I could have lasted longer than just for an espresso. At the end of the tour, I didn't return from Casilhas, but from Barreiro to Alfama (2.45 Eur). The last few kilometers collected a few meters of altitude ... My hotel is at the Marques de Pombal 😁

So first of all, I have to say that 37 km haven't been as exhausted for me as it is today. The plan was to go to Sintra by train and then return by bike. I checked the timetable of Urbanos CP and found that they leave Sete Rios every 20 minutes. Well.I found the closest bike rental shop within walking distance without any problems. And it made a really good impression. 45 € for two days for a Scott touring bike. Helmet, lock, pump, everything with you.Train ticket from Sete Rios to Sintra € 2.25. Bike for free.Although Sintra is a historical site and I have never visited it, unfortunately I did not visit it due to the shortage of time. Will come again and just look at the palaces. For me today the journey was the goal.Knowing that I haven't really ridden much bike since my last vacation in Portugal at the end of June, I set off ........

Moved by ferry (1.30 euros) from the Cais so Sodre Terminal Fluvial to the other Tagus side to Cacilhias .. nice.
And what happens then?? Chain tear. On the last tour in Portugal and the last 3 hours before the drop off. Luckily enough parts and tools with us ... But that had to be ...Nevertheless, it does not detract from the great cycling holiday ... I am looking forward to next year !!!

Today a little lap to "cycle out" ... I've had enough meters in altitude the past few days.I chose Vila Franca da Xira in the Ribatejo region as my destination, because on the one hand always along the Tagus, so flat, and on the other hand a good train connection to go home.Unfortunately a bit of a national road, but also some cycle paths ready, where Komoot does not know any!Train back to Lisbon-Santa Apolonia € 2.25.I liked it ... I'll make a few highlights from the pictures ...
