The dammed lakes were once used to transport logs tied together into rafts down into the valley and further along the Enz, Neckar, and Rhine rivers to a destination in the Netherlands. Today, the two rafting lakes are a truly idyllic setting and a worthwhile destination for hikers. Narrow paths lead around each lake.
