The deliberately contemporary New Town Hall is jokingly called "'T Scheep" (the ship) by the residents of Hasselt. It offers a new view of the city thanks to its sloping, glass-lined facade. The building has a total area of 18,000 m² and was inaugurated in 2018. The sloping wall with a reflective surface towers over the former Reichswacht barracks and offers a unique spectacle that changes depending on the time of day.
