The tower- and gabled complex of Merseburg Castle and Cathedral towers above Merseburg. The castle garden lies between the castle and the castle garden salon. Originally designed as a baroque pleasure garden, it was later landscaped by Peter Joseph Lenné and redesigned in a formal style in 1968. The well-kept grounds offer attractive views of the cathedral, castle and Saale.
