After our escape from the Spree, a few days in Berlin and an exciting elevator thriller in the main train station, from which only Deutsche Bahn with its delays could save us, a full train to Rostock and a short, beautiful stay in the old Hanseatic city, we are sportily back from the Baltic Sea Coastal

On the sixth day, we experience a very beautiful stretch of the Spreewald: first farmsteads and between narrow strips of fields and meadows, again and again large and small canals — or as they are called here: Fließe. Then we dive into the deep green of the alluvial forests. Duckweed in dead arms, paddlers

We started the day a little more calmly today and enjoyed our unique first-row campsite without any fences right on the reservoir, especially since we were woken up in the morning by tractor noises - music to Junior's ears. An orange Fendt plowed the sandy beach for hours, so breakfast television was

Day 4 has the best weather so far, but unfortunately we have other challenges: right at the beginning, one, and in total 3❗️flat tires — we get robinia thorns on poorly swept paths; apparently not even Schwalbe G-One Allround can handle them, but we are delayed.

Two insights:

1. You don't have to ride

After we were first traveling at approx. 19 km/h on the Oder-Neiße-Radweg; then with a child a few months older, but still sitting, at 16 km/h; our average travel speed on the Spree is now only approx. 12 km/h — this is because Junior is motivated and ambitious and wants to and does cycle a lot of distance

Our first complete day's stage led us along several noteworthy Umgebindehäuser and along the partly wild, partly calmly flowing, already astonishingly wide Spree through small villages, meadows, forests, and over a few hills in the Upper Lusatian Highlands. Junior's cycling power lasted almost 8km at

After a quiet train ride, the Trilex drops us off at a request stop with an overgrown barrack. Welcome to Eibau! But after just a few meters, we find the signpost to the Spree source on the Kottmar - that's where we have to go! First along a quite picturesque village, then increasingly steeply up a wooded

Hinterhermsdorf Pt.1 — Niedere Schleuse, Brüdersteine, Lindigtblick, Waldhusche

Hinterhermsdorf — that sounds like a promise: for us, that means paths not yet trodden, valleys and forests, where every deer track is not yet as familiar to us as in other parts of Saxon Switzerland.

And after the seclusion of the Balzhütte already lured us this year, it's time to close this last blind

After seeing it at least three times from the Vercors, we can't resist and drive 'over' to the real mountains again.

And we won't even mention "highest of the... massif."

The mission is called Le Taillefer.

Off we go, after first struggling up endless switchbacks by car, and then on foot in switchbacks

The route we've planned today is called Tête Chevalière (Horseman's Head) and, while it doesn't have a prominent peak, is still quite challenging. Today, for the first time, we have to set out in the fog, anxiously awaiting when and if it will clear. We actually wade through the murky mists the entire

In the valley, near the bakery, a heavy, wet fog lingers, forcing the chill under our jackets—what will the weather be like today? Equipped with fresh baguettes, we drive to the start of the tour. On our first hike in the Vercors, we explore a more northerly section of the route because our accommodation is further south, and the various parts of the region are only accessible with long journeys, either via winding mountain passes or major detours. Transferring Junior, still asleep, from his car
