The battalion from Schladen withdrew under Major von Borck led from the Schänzel over the Benderplatz and Kohlplatz into the Rhine plain. The defeat of the coalition troops on the Schänzel resulted in a retreat to and across the Rhine. As a consequence, Prussia withdrew from the war after an armistice with France. "
