Nearby is the Orensberg with a rock as a viewing platform. Just continue up the path at the Pfälzerwald hut. On the way a great view of the castle Trifels and more. Those who wander through the fog in winter will experience a great natural spectacle. Incidentally, do letterboxing. The altar and the abandoned house are very interesting.

The ruins of the hilltop castle rises in the eastern part of the Palatinate Forest at about 500 m altitude on the western foothills of Kalkofenberg and is only accessible by footpath. The various areas of the castle are already illustrated. From the upper tower you have a beautiful panoramic view in the Rhine ditch and over the Wasgau.

I was particularly impressed by the mighty shield wall, as well as the fish farming tanks. Also for this castle ruin's one of the funny videos of Norbert Heugel.
Just have a look before or after your own visit 😉

Angled walk-in castle ruins near the Landauer Hütte.
Day of the open monument on 10.09.17 with medieval spectacle.
The shield wall can be reached by stairs and offers from its observation deck a beautiful panorama - of course depending on the weather 😉.
