In German-national exuberance after the victory in the Franco-German War (1870/71) arose in 1874 the Schänzelturm. In 1894 he became
"To the memory of the brave Prussian warriors who died here in the battle against the French invasion army on 13 July 1794 the hero's death for the German homeland"
dedicated to the 100th anniversary of a battle. When, at that time, French revolutionary troops conquered the part of the Palatinate on the left bank of the Rhine, they met a Prussian contingent - unsuccessfully - on the slopes of the Steigerkopf. Because the Prussians had built smaller fortifications on the mountainside, the Steigerkopf is also popularly known as Schänzel; From this the name of the tower derives.

Technical departure from the Schänzelturm in the direction of the Forsthaus Heldenstein. It's a lot of fun. Two natural jumps for small jumps are also included 🤟🏼

Beautiful lightly locked switchback trail, also highly mobile with a bit of technology.
