The waterwheel was built by Carl von Jena in 1925/26 and drove a piston pump to supply Cöthen with water. It is now located in a fauna-flora-habitat protection area with hill spring moor and floodplain forests. At the place where the waterfall is today, von Jena once set up a Roman bath for his family.
