The bike tour started in Nehren on the Moselle. The course should follow via Zell direction Traben Trabach. Unfortunately, the tour was canceled because of a fall by bike. With fractured collarbone it was not possible to continue. The tour will be repeated next year.

Today's bike tour led first at Bad Hönningen by ferry to the other side of the Rhine. Next via Brohl-Lützing we went to Namedy. The local Namedy Castle, which is a 14th-century water castle, was rebuilt in 1890 into a palace complex. Next the tour went to Andernach. A visit to the adventure center Geysir Andernach, which explains, inter alia, the operation of the geyser, includes the ship connection to the landing Namedyer Werth. There you can visit the Kaltwassergeysir, which is about 50 to 60 meters high, the highest of the earth. The eruption of the geyser lasts about eight minutes and the interval between two eruptions about 100 minutes. The tour then continued via Weißenthurm, the Rhine bridge to Neuwied, Irlich, Feldkirchen, Leutesdorf and Hammerstein to Rheinbrohl.

  3. Captain went for a hike.

The hike initially went from the Wellness Rheinpark campsite into the vineyards of Bad Hönningen. There is the so-called "Castle of the Year", with its 365 windows, 52 rooms and 12 towers. The construction of the castle Arenfels, which was later rebuilt into a castle, was built under Gerlach of Isenburg in the years 1258 - 1259. Further uphill we went to the sheepfold. This very old settlement, which had once served the courtiers of the Arenfels castle lords as their home, consisted of a hundred years ago of four houses, a bakery and the associated economic building. Along the vineyards we went downhill to Bad Hönningen and back to the campsite.

The bike tour started from the Wellness Rheinpark Camping in Bad Hönningen. Also connected is a Kristall-Therme, where you can pamper yourself. About Ariendorf and Leubsdorf it went to Linz. The ferry was ferried across the Rhine to Kripp. Following the cycle path we continued to Bad Breisig. With the ferry there we went back to the other side of the Rhine and back to the campsite to Bad Hönningen.

Today the bike trip started from the camp Grav-Insel am Rhein. According to Wikipedia, it is with 2.1 million square meters and over 2000 parking spaces the largest campsite in Germany. Can you have seen. From there it went along the Deichweg Aue and the Rhine promenade and over the new bridge over the Rhine to Büderich. About Perrich and the Eyländer way the next target was the passenger ferry Keer-Tröch. After the translation, the tour on the Marwick and Bislicher Str. Back to the Grav island. A very easy to drive round trip with lots of nature.

Today's bike tour took us from the campsite and restaurant "Bremer", at Xanten on the avenue bike path to Marienbaum (place of pilgrimage). This bike path goes over an old railway track and is wonderful to drive. Past Vynen (with the North Sea), Wardt (with the South Sea) and Lüttingen also Xanten was quickly reached again. Who likes can walk in the archaeological park Xanten in the footsteps of the Romans, because close to the city there was a Roman legion camp about 2000 years ago.

From Bergerhausen it went via Rellinghausen on the old railway line, the Grugaweg. This flows behind Frohnhausen in the Radschnellweg. Here I am now as far as Mühlheim on the railway line driven until it ends in the amount of the University-Ruhr-West, Campus Mühlheim. When it should then go on towards Duisburg is in the stars. It went back to the glass bike lift on the Ruhr promenade. He was once again out of order, so carry the bike over stairs. Over the towpath we went to the old lock, then over the Ruhrinselweg on the other side of the Ruhr. At the Menden bridge the Ruhr side was changed again. The towpath along Kettwig and Werden, Baldeneysee and Heisingen it went back to the starting point.

Today, the bike tour should first go to the colliery Zollverein. It was once the largest and most powerful coal mine in the world and the largest central coking plant in Europe. Today it is an industrial monument and belongs to the world heritage of UNESCO. Over partly old railway lines it went on, past the sculpture forest, heap Rheinelbe, Von Wedelstaed park, science park Rheinelbe, city garden Gelsenkirchen, Nierhausen district park, Kaiser William's park, Niederfeldsee and Krupp park and lake. Especially the cycling over these old railway tracks is a pleasure. Only, and in particular in the Gelsenkirchen area, the signs of the route guidance leaves something to be desired. Much more can be done here.

The small bike tour today went over Rellinghausen (In 1996, the former ladies' pen Rellinghausen celebrated its millennial existence). Next on the Marie-Juchacz-Straße (Ruhr bridge), the tour led to Überruhr-Hinsel over to Essen-Steele. In time for the start of the onset of rain, the journey went over the Überruhrbogen and the Siepental back to the starting point.

About De Koog it goes today on the Waal en Burger dyke. The polder is located in the middle of Texel. The soil is so deep that salt marsh plants such as spring and beach sod occur here. The low-lying middle part of the polder is the oldest willow bird reserve in the Netherlands. Continue to Fonteinsnol. There is one of the most famous viewpoints of the island. From the wooden tower you have a nice view over the forest De Dennen and the island. The next destination, for a snack, was the beach pavilion Jan Ayerslag. Unfortunately this was closed. So it went on to Bospaviljoen 't Turfveld. It is an ideal stopover during a bike ride, a wonderful resting place in the forest of Texel and a good starting point for a hike, a run or a boot camp. My recommendation there: "Raspatatje" (freshly squeezed fries, saulecker)! Strengthened it goes back to the starting point.
