The small round leads around Blankenstein Castle, a high medieval hilltop castle from the 13th century. Count Adolf I von der Mark once had it built. The ruin stands on the left-hand hills of the Ruhr around 70 meters above the river. It has been a listed building since 1909. Today there is a castle restaurant here, among other things, which can also be booked for celebrations of all kinds.

Today cloudy and temperatures around 6 ° C.
The tour leads first through the Siepental and then later on the Laurentiusweg turn into the path to Fünfkirchenblick. Above the Ruhr floodplains, the path goes along the Evangelical Hospital Essen-Steele and behind the city garden it leads to Westfalenstrasse. On the Grugaradweg, along the Ruhr, it goes back to the starting point via Rellinghausen and the former Ludwig colliery.

Only ran a very small lap today. Inspired by the garden documentary "Ab ins Beet", which has been shown on VOX since 2005, I wanted to take a look at the conditions of the allotment garden association "Peaceful Neighbor" in Bochum-Gerthe. The storyline: Claus Scholz "Clausi", who often wears soccer jersey, was a Waldorf student and since 2012 has even held a diploma in biology. However, it is also a real talk bag. Over the past few years, Clausi has wanted to make his plot the jewel of the complex. Since he doesn't really know anything about anything, the plot turns out to be a disaster again and again. Only with his allotment garden friend and Schalke fan Ralf Ender's "Ralle", who often helps him, there are some bright spots. For some time now, the landscape gardener Ralf Dammasch has also been on the garden area and can finally bring in the ground. The garden looked quite neat on TV recently. Today everything expires again. Nature takes it back.

The tour went to the vaccination center in the exhibition halls of the Gruga. There I wanted to get an overview of where I, as a volunteer helper, can best drop off the older vaccinees so that they don't have to walk far. From the exhibition center parking lot P1 you have to walk approx. 800m to the entrance. From Lührmannstraße, past the P6 exhibition center, you can drive up to just before Hall 4 (vaccination center) with the appropriate permit. But there is no waiting area there. After the vaccination you can drive up to pick it up again.
I hope that many will get vaccinated and that Corona will go away very soon.

What has dealt with me before:
How big or what extent is Bergerhausen? I didn't find anything on the net. So get on your bike and drive off.
Where is Bergerhausen? It is located roughly in the middle of the urban area, southeast of the city center. It borders on the districts of Steele, Überruhr-Hinsel, Rellinghausen, Rüttenscheid and Stadtmitte as well as Huttrop.
I had to cheat a little. The north-west part of Bergerhausen is bounded by the A52. Of course, I couldn't drive the 1.4 km between the Wittekindstrasse bridge and the Max-Keith-Strasse bridge on the motorway. Komoot then helps, who simply connects the two points. This results in a circumference of Bergerhausen of almost exactly 9.8 km.
This was only a small lap, but it was easy to drive with 7 ° C and a cloudless sky.

Today my bike tour went to Essen Borbeck. First the tour took me through downtown Essen and then at the university on the Rheinische Bahn cycle path. I couldn't take the cycle path to the right at the Borbeck station junction. Asphalt work is currently being carried out here. With a little detour via Borbeck-Mitte we went to the castle and castle park of Borbeck. This park of Borbeck Castle, the former residence of the Essen prince abbesses, is one of the oldest parks in the Rhineland.

The little loop around Margarethenhöhe starts from Lührmannstraße, which leads right across the Grugapark.
The Margarethenhöhe is named after the founder Margarethe Krupp and was built between 1909 and 1938 as a prime example of a modern settlement. It is the first German garden city and is now an independent district. It has been a listed building since 1987.
On the round you also pass the Halbachhammer.
This medieval complex (Fickynhütte) was first mentioned in a document in 1417. At Weidenau she was at the victory. Gustav Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach had it rebuilt ready for operation in the Nachtigallental in 1935/36 after 500 years of operation there. Demonstrations of the hammer operation take place there between April and November. One or the other forged can be taken as a souvenir.

With temperatures around -2 ° C but a lot of sun and a cloudless sky, today's hike first went to the angry ant. Following the Grugaradweg a short distance, it went right onto the St. Annental path. This then turns into the path Im Walpurgistal. The parallel running Rellinghauser Mühlenbach has frozen over in the cold weather. Via Gönterstraße we continued through Bergerhausen back to the starting point.

First round in the new year, but only 2.5 ° C in sunny weather. From Bergerhausen it goes first towards Huttrop. After circumnavigating the park cemetery, it goes through the Siepental back to the starting point.
