The high alpine pilgrimage has a special history. Due to a bad period of drought in 1663, a group of Lechtalers went on a pilgrimage to St. Maria Loretto in Oberstdorf. According to tradition, the long-awaited rain at the arrival of pilgrims in Oberstdorf at today's Viehscheidplatz already used. The pilgrimage to Loretto became in the following years a solid pilgrimage high above the mountains of Holzgau.
Here it is either on the ascent to or on the descent of the Kemptner nice rest.
