We started the hike to the Rappenseehütte from the parking area of the Fellhornbahn. The first part is along the road, if you want you can take this part by bus. We continue on a wide hiking trail to Einödsbach, then the hiking trail becomes a single trail. You can take a break on the Petersalpe after about half the route (but far from half the vertical meters). From there it goes very steeply a few hundred meters up to the Enzianhütte and from there it goes a bit flat. Shortly before the Rappenseehütte it gets steep again.
In wet conditions, the surface is slippery in some places, so non-slip shoes are essential. Otherwise, no special equipment is required and the tour is easy to do for trained hikers.

We came from the Mindelheimer Hut on September 5th, 19 in bad weather (snow, fog); wanted to go over the southernmost point of Germany, but then we decided differently shortly before and then went over the Schrofenpass and the Mutzentobel. The next day we planned to walk over the Heilbronner Weg to the Kemptner hut but there was no fresh snow with 10 cm to think and the HÜTTENWIRT said we should let it be. As an alternative we are first 200 meters high and then descend into the Lech valley to Prenten .. Was not so easy to find the way in the snow .. In Prenten we are with I took the bus to Holzgau and from there up to the Kemptner Hütte ,, That was a tough trip and should not be underestimated ..-- To the hut --- We had a bed for 4 people. Everything is good .. The hut is cozy .. The showers are outside the hut ..
