In itself a beautiful and well organized hut. The focal point for the E5 and many other hiking trails, so unfortunately very large and overcrowded. Reminds more of a youth hostel than a mountain hut, as there is no romance and intimacy. The food and service were great, and the prices were also very reasonable! The path from Oberstdorf along the Trettach is beautiful and comfortable, if you are fit enough you should definitely not take the bus for a shortcut here. The path through the Sperrbachtobel is a bit more demanding, SAC T2 (mountain hiking).

Surrounded by the Bavarian Alps, the Kemptner Hütte in its present size, with over 100 room beds, has been available to all mountain lovers since 1904. The food here is a dream. I think some people just go up to enjoy the same, not to walk maybe even further. In addition, the products are from largely regional production. Highly recommended. Even more recommendable, of course, is to use the hut as a starting point for one of the many great mountain tours in the area. The Kemptner Hütte towers high above the Sperrbachtobel at 1,844 m in the Allgäu Alps. The refuge, built in 1891, is the focal point for hikers and mountaineers. From there, not only does the very popular E5 long-distance hiking trail to Merano begin, but also the ibex tour over the main ridge of the Allgäu Alps.
