The Geiersburg was a border watch very early on, probably around 800, but was no longer inhabited after a fire in 1526. The ruins are still impressive today, you can spend a few here. The Geiersberger Pass leads steeply uphill past the Geierburg to the Osterzgebirgskamm, that was the old Dresden-Teplitzer Poststrasse, how carriages made it through this pass is a mystery to me.
