Today, on the 2nd stage of Hessenweg 4️⃣, no sun was shining ... (were spoiled by it 2 days ago☀️). It was cloudy and fresh, but when the weather is nice everyone can ... hike😉 ...
      Conclusion: forest🌲🌳🌲, forest 🌲🌲🌲 and again forest🌲🌳🌲 ..
Quiet and relaxing it went past the Kreidacher Höhe (here you can still feel the faded, somewhat morbid holiday charm of the 80s) to the 🚙 above Wald-Michelbach ...

Today was the "starting shot" for the approx. 400km long Hessenweg 4️⃣ in bright (autumn) sunshine☀️ in the southernmost tip of Hesse, in Neckarsteinach.
Since I was able to start this (new) hiking project with my hiking friend, we had no problems with the bus or train with 2 cars and used the hiking car park "Eichköpfel" near Heiligkreuzteinach as the end of our 1st stage. Thank you for the pleasant company👌🏻.
      Let's go‼ ️
Before we headed north on the wooded route, we ran a short lap through the historic old town area of Neckarsteinach - absolutely recommendable👍🏻‼ ️So then: From the southern tip of Hesse on the Neckar to Lake Diemelsee in northern Hesse, the end of the route is in Marsberg (already in North Rhine-Westphalia)
      Let's go 👌🏻.

Continuation on the "divided" route: The western course today leads from Rockenberg to Lich 🍺😉.
I found the decision to start around noon with a few rays of sun ☀️ confirmed in the afternoon👍🏻🤗.
In addition, the tour begins with a short 🌍 trip through the Wetterau with 🚂 and 🚌 to get to the start: Lich - Giessen - Butzbach - Rockenberg🤭.
Imposing on the way, the Munzenburg greets you soon (unfortunately it is closed during the week in autumn and completely closed in winter - but this building deserves another extra tour with a visit to the castle 📝👍🏻).
The Luther Trail Association has some stamping points ready for today's stage - thank you for that.
Now there is a western and an eastern stage that I have planned to Wetterfeld before I continue on the "one" route😇.

Today in the sunshine, continue on the east variant of the Lutherweg1525 ...
In Berstadt, a lovingly designed "pilgrimage corner" awaits pilgrims in the open church - thanks to the local community. In the street "Oberpforte" there is a large information board about Luther's history: Here one "swears" that Luther preached in the village on his return from the Reichstag in Worms and thus took the eastern travel option😉. Since Luther was banned from the empire by Charles V, he could not give the sermon in the nearby church, he had to use the stairs of the Berstädter parish inn🍻.
And another note: The church in Hungen is also open to pilgrims and also has a pilgrim stamp 📖 ready.
Tip for public transport: 🚍3️⃣6️⃣3️⃣ Hungen - Wölfersheim (approx. Hourly)

Finally! - After a two-week absence from hiking, back on track ... 😇 ... and now continue in the "Project" Lutherweg1️⃣5️⃣2️⃣1️⃣.
In Friedberg the Lutherweg divides before the two sections come together again at Hessenbrückenhammer. No historical evidence was found as to which route was the real one, since Luther's letter from Friedberg to his friend Spalatin only mentions the destination Grünberg. The west variant leads over Lich, the east variant over Hungen. This tour (10A) is the counterpart to tour 10 (Bad Nauheim - Rockenberg) and leads to Wölfersheim.
Unfortunately the Ev. Churches Friedberg, Södel and Wölfersheim closed🔒 - but thanks go to the parish in Dorheim, which has lovingly furnished the sacristy for pilgrims👍🏻🤗
      Tip for public transport:
      - RB47 Wölfersheim-Södel - Friedberg (every hour or every half hour)

Yes, ok - the hike is perhaps a bit exaggerated 😉, but the Tissa walls are a "climbing Eldorado" for the little ones 👍🏻 ...
Soooo ... many sandstone figures ❗
      Soooo ... many climbing passages❗
You can pass the time there ... And the stop at the Czech Baude was great again.
Last but not least, this time there was a large crowd of companions 🤪

      Grandma-Grandpa-Children-Grandchildren-Day👍🏻 ...
      And where are you going?
Of course about the (beloved) Geising (mountain) in the Eastern Ore Mountains‼ ️
      - Start with the Müglitztalbahn from Lauenstein to Altenberg
      - Thanks to the hut owner Marco, in the Geisingberg-Baude we would be very well catered for:
      - At the Sachsenhöhe, the forest put a line through our hiking bill with a helicopter fertilization campaign ...
      - So again cross-country: extra fun for the children 😉

Every time we drive the B84 from Hünfeld via Rasdorf into the Thuringian Rhön to Geisa we saw a new (?) Lookout tower ...
That was our goal today - starting from Haselstein with the small castle ruins ...

A highlight of the Rhön hiking world are the "extra tours", these are circular hiking trails on which you can easily get back to the starting point, as these are well signposted by many volunteers and municipalities. The premium hiking trails are between 6.5 and over 20 km long and are suitable for full-day or half-day tours. (
We based this hike on the extra tour "Ulmenstein" near Nüsttal (Hessian Rhön) and followed the marking almost continuously. We only have to lengthen the route a little with the circumnavigation of the Linz mountain, the curve to the church of Hofaschenbach, which is well worth seeing, and the detour to the Jungfernbörnchen 😉👍🏻
