Embedded in the Siepentäler is the terrace cemetery, where among other things there are a total of 1698 prisoners of war and forced laborers who died in Essen during the Second World War. Among them are 1667 from the Soviet Union, 11 Belgians, 7 Poles, 6 Yugoslavs, 3 Dutch and three people from the then Czechoslovakia and Bulgaria. 300 of them are victims of unknown names.
