The Forstbachtal valley is one of several small, wild and romantic valleys between Kettwig and Mülheim, whose streams flow into the Ruhr.
In addition to nature, hikers will also find many benches here.

The Forstbachtal was placed under nature protection. The floodplain is defined by deciduous forests and grassland. Among other things, the alder banks, the wet meadow fallows, near-natural stream sections, rare plants and animals that feel comfortable in the biotope network are protected.
"The area is located in the east of Mülheim above the Ruhr. It includes a stream system (GB) that drains in a moderately steep valley to the western Ruhr. A small part of the valley is covered with beech forest, the rest is grassland. At the bottom of the valley there are remains of alluvial forest and two ponds. In the upper area of the valley there are some areas with wet grassland (GB). Several spring streams in narrow side valleys flow into the main valley. Adjacent to this are intensively used farmland. The value is determined by the entire biotope complex with its near-natural stream in the valley, which is largely used for grassland , the wet and floodplain areas as well as the forest remnants as a valuable habitat for many animal and plant species. The area is therefore highly representative and therefore worth protecting in terms of the protection target concept for the natural area. Impairments are due to intensive grazing, fertilizer drift from adjacent areas and the spread of neophytes recognize. The area has important function in the network of grassland-used brook valleys on the lower reaches of the Ruhr and, as a biotope network for numerous endangered plant and animal species, is of outstanding importance in the biotope network."
