For over 100 years it has been a permanent institution in Hamburg: the Ohnsorg Theater. Not least stars like Heidi Kabel and Henry Vahl made the house known beyond the borders of Germany. The current ensemble and guest stars, as well as the regular high German television broadcasts of the North German broadcasting, continue to ensure that the popularity does not break off. From 1996 to 2017 director Christian Seeler steered the destiny of the house and presented again and again a wide-ranging, varied Low German repertoire. With the season 2017/2018, Michael Lang, long-time director of the comedy Winterhuder Fährhaus, has taken over the directorship of the Ohnsorg Theater. He proves that Volkstheater is by no means only a must-have entertainment: the Low German schedule - only the Christmas fairy tale is played in High German - varies from the Singspiel over character comedies to the serious drama. Of course, the popular Ohnsorg classics are not forgotten. The Ohnsorg Theater has been at home in its new venue since August 2011: the Bieberhaus on Heidi-Kabel-Platz 1, right next to the main train station, right in the heart of Hamburg. After 75 years in the Grosse Bleichen, a long-cherished wish for new artistic possibilities has come true with the move to the Bieberhaus. Very good accessibility, better space, first-class technical equipment and the additional studio stage offer excellent perspectives. The attractive new theater building with its spacious foyer areas and state-of-the-art technology delights the public and the new gastronomy also offers contemporary comfort.ohnsorg.de/das-haus/grosses-haus
