The International Maritime Museum Hamburg is housed in the former Kaispeicher B. The Kaispeicher B (1878/79) is older than the Speicherstadt and the oldest surviving storage building in Hamburg. After extensive renovation, Kaispeicher B was given a new use by the museum, but it was not without criticism at the beginning. Peter Team's collection formed the basis and was significantly expanded. It is an outstanding maritime museum and well worth a visit for anyone interested in the history and development of seafaring.
