The Luchberg is an old volcanic cone, which has a lot of mossy boulders in the summit area. The Gipfwl is completely wooded, so that no view of the landscape is possible. Therefor can look fantastic in all Himmelsrichrungen from the circular route, which leads around completely around the mountain (Dresden, Wilisch, Keuleberg, Hoher Schneeberg, Valtenberg, Unger, Kohlkuppen, Tellkoppe, etc.)

Luchberg summit with summit register.

Information:

Luchberg Nature Reserve. The summit is densely wooded and offers no view, but plenty of nature. Access to the summit is via an unmarked but signposted path from Luchau. A television transmitter, which also serves as a mobile phone transmitter in the 21st century, stands on the summit.

The Luchberg is a 576.2 m (2,200 ft) high basalt cone. It was formed approximately 30 million years ago during the great Tertiary period of volcanism, when the deep interior of Europe became highly unstable.
