The Eierschecke baker tells the following story: Due to the high demand for quark (a type of soft cheese) for the city wall, bakers lacked it to bake their cakes. The quark was replaced with a mixture of eggs, sugar, and raisins – and thus, the Freiberg Eierschecke was invented.

A silver tour leads through the silver city of Freiberg. Eleven larger-than-life silver figures connect Freiberg's sights in the medieval old town.
