A varied circular hike in the footsteps of Karl Stülner, the Robin Hood of the Ore Mountains, back from Scharfenstein in the Zschopau valley via Großolbersdorf.

The Green Fields Park was laid out from 1780 and extends between the old town of Waldenburg, Muldeaue and the district of Oberwinkel. Until the road layout was changed at the end of the 19th century, the Grünfeld, Schlosspark and Lustgarten park areas, separated only by the course of the river Mulde, were connected as a total of over 120 hectares. Along the Kastanienallee past the gondola pond (Sauteich), the largest body of water in the park, further under the mighty trees of the oak avenue to the Hotel Grünstelder Schloß, part of the former Parkschlösschen, the first part of the landscape park opens up… .. TOP 🔝 relaxed opportunity just switch off!

My tour started right at the train station in Scharfstein. There you can park your car easily, some of the parking spaces are free, some are chargeable. At first it goes through the village of Scharfenstein, past the Zschopau bridges, then on a very steep trail up to the Weber-Hans-Felsen. You have a nice view of Scharfenstein. Then it goes up to the Affenstein. From there first downhill to the Stülpnerbrunnen, up to the Bodemerkanzel. From there downhill to Zschopau. Then we went back by train 🚂 to Scharfenstein. Good footwear required, in the forest it is sometimes very muddy. Many resting places available. Easy to walk on.

The tour begins “Behind the Stockmühle” in Freiberg and leads over the “Halunkenburg”, the Bieberteich in Freiberg towards the Zuger Rundweg, first to the Zuger Halde. The next stop is the former Zug school, the Zug church with the cemetery 🪦, the start of the Hohbirker Kunstgraben. Along the direction of Konstantin Teich and Konstantin Schacht, past the hat houses "Zscherper 3rd to 5th Mass" and "Jung Himmlisch Heer" to the hat house "Beschert Glück Fundgrube". Past “Hammers Gasthof”, the restaurant and guesthouse “To the last three”, the 3 crosses near Freiberg back to the starting point “Behind the Stockmühle”. Nice Nordic walking tour, mostly paved paths and roads, also suitable for families.

Actually I wanted to cover about 13 km today. Due to the high temperatures of 32 degrees and the corresponding humidity, I shortened the whole thing to a photo tour. The Fürstenlager State Park is the former summer residence of the Landgraves and Grand Dukes of Hesse-Darmstadt, built around 1790 in Bensheim-Auerbach an der Bergstrasse. On the approximately 46 hectare landscaped park there are stately houses, monuments and garden temples as well as a number of courtyard buildings, which are arranged in the form of a traditional village. The park is laid out in the English style. It is very hilly, you can see about 50 exotic trees and bushes. The tour starts directly at the parking lot at Bachgasse 81, 64625 Bensheim, the number of parking spaces is limited. Arriving early ensures good places. Various routes can be chosen, all of which are family-friendly and there are various resting places. Please do not forget the camera, you have a lot of beautiful motifs.
