The first description as a castle dates back to 1312. At the beginning of the 16th century, it became known as Freudenstein. The conversion to the Renaissance castle began in 1566-1577. During the Seven Years War, the castle was ruined and heavily rebuilt. Used for DDr times as storage. Reconstructed after the reunification again in Renaissance style. Today it contains the Terra Mineralia in the former church wing.
