Behind the second functioning watermill, the Queich flows out of Annweiler under the remains of the old city wall. The small passage next to it is known as the Schipka pass. But why nobody knows anymore. The real Shipka Pass is actually in Bulgaria in the Balkan Mountains, where the decisive battle between Russians and Turks for the liberation of Bulgaria took place in 1877.
