Before the hot thaw melts the white splendor, we wanted to enjoy winter fun again. We quickly went to the Ohm Mountains near Wehnde. In the Trogberg and Schwarzenberg we still found plenty of snow. Because the trees were without leaves, we could marvel at the rock formations of the Schwarzenberg. The thaw was already noticeable in the Wildungen desert. Passing the Trogberg cliffs, we made a detour to the bear cave before Wehnde. It's good that the bears are currently hibernating 😂.

The winter called us to go on a snow hike in the Harz Mountains. As a round we had chosen the mountains around the climatic health resort Zorge. From the Zorg valley it went uphill on both sides. In addition to the gradients, the deep snow was a challenge. Sometimes we pulled the trail. A wonderful, but also exhausting tour. We will definitely be back in summer.

Today we hiked the last section of the Rotenberg. We saw many different ponds and rivers: Rhume spring, fish ponds near the Rhume spring, the Beber and the village pond in Pöhlde, Kiesseen and the Oder in their river bed between Pöhlde and Hattorf. A successful tour.

From the parking lot at the Obernfeld cemetery, we headed for the ASV Obernfeld fishing ponds. Beautifully located! We continued uphill to Hellberg. Past the Tilly oak we hiked on winding, muddy paths towards Rüdershausen. Before entering the village on the right, the next small ponds invited to take photos. Behind the village we turned onto the Karl Carstens hiking trail. Soon we were greeted by the ASV Rüdershausen's fish ponds on the left. On the way back we stopped at the Josef spring.

We were in the Harz!
To avoid the current hustle and bustle, we started from the Oderhaus. We hiked along the Oder towards the cattle barn on a slightly icy path. Shortly before the cattle stables we turned right uphill over the Drecktalskopf onto the Hahnenkleer Waldstraße. A dreamy winter landscape welcomed us by the cliffs. Great! We went on to the silver pond. A fairytale setting! From there we hiked partly on winding paths, but also via the Kaiserweg and natural mythology path back to the Oderhaus.
A magical winter landscape accompanied us on the entire tour. It was wonderful!January 5, 2021

At the end of the year, another "fading tour". We hiked through the Tettelwarte to the windmill village of Breitenberg. In the valley to the west, the "wild Betzelföhrebeeke", a small stream with a wild and romantic setting, accompanied us for about 2.5 km. We left the valley on the ascent to the poplar avenue (Tuscany of the north). Since this has been cut considerably due to the drought, the sublime view that we otherwise could always enjoy is now missing.
In Mingerode we made a detour to the newly created biotope in the Kirchtal.
From there it went back over the berry gorge. Another nice round at the end of the year.
We wish everyone a confident start to the new year and continued great hiking and biking tours.December 31, 2020

Nice hike from the parking lot above the Seeburger See to the Seulinger Warte. Behind the sports shop we left the road and took a rarely used, but original forest path. Just great! The additional round on the Westerberg is worthwhile.
The view from the control room was fantastic today. Only the resin was wrapped in clouds.December 30, 2020

Since the Harz is overflowing, we limited our hike to the immediate vicinity of the lower area, because the upper area is currently taboo. But the big round from Duderstadt to Huebental is also very nice.
