    The stork tower is a medieval military and prison tower on the edge of the old town of Eisenach in Thuringia. It is located in the west of Eisenach's old town on the edge of the Old Cemetery (Wikipedia).

      The Eisenach city wall was first mentioned in 1216; Its construction began in the 12th century under Landgrave Ludwig II. The residents of the surrounding villages had to help build the wall as compulsory labor; they used different materials and wall thicknesses depending on their own capacities. The building, averaging eight meters high, had seven watchtowers and ten access towers, five guarded and lockable gate towers provided access to the city. Moats and ramparts in front of the city wall provided additional security.
