Eisenach owes its theater to the initiative of the patron Baron Julius von Eichel-Streiber, who had the stylish theater building built based on designs by the Leipzig architect Karl Weichardt and handed it over to the city on January 1, 1879. After extensive modernization of stage technology and interior design in recent years, the house offers its guests a varied program in all genres of opera, operetta, musicals, dance theater, plays and theater.
