The units' mission was to capture the strip from Westkapelle to Breezand. They were also tasked with neutralizing the coastal batteries at Westkapelle, Domburg, and Oostkapelle.
There are actually three monuments: the 41st Royal Marines Commando Domburg Monument, the Belgian Commando Monument, and the Norwegian Commando Monument.
