Kasteel Westhove as a youth hostel Top. Family room in the tower in the winter months possible with dog. Unfortunately, the guests with dogs did not follow the rules, so now no dogs are allowed. At the castle directly a bike rental and a nice cafe. The beach is only ten minutes through the woods. In the forest we have often seen deer. Very nice nature trails and a clean beach, really recommendable.

A very nice, well-kept park. In the Kasteel is a cozy beer garden.

The castle Westhove was first mentioned in documents in 1277, their exact date of construction is unclear. The medieval structure of the castle suffered particular damage in the 80-year war, when the building was first in Spanish hands and conquered by the Watergeuzen in 1572. In the following years, the castle was rebuilt into a pleasure palace, so that today, despite the rather medieval appearance, only the lower part of the walls of the towers and parts of the residential buildings belong to the old castle. Today, the complex is divided into the water-repowered core castle with two flanking towers, three wings and a spacious courtyard. The former fourth wing has completely disappeared. North is a U-shaped outer bailey and a few meters west an orangery, which today houses the Museum Terra Maris. There is a hostel in the main and outer bailey. It is also noteworthy that there is a walk-in replica of a moth on the outdoor area of the museum.

A small, well-kept facility. You can stay there. A restaurant is also available. I could not tell if dogs are allowed there.

About the castle (youth hostel?) I can not say anything. But the park is pretty and the "magic forest" and the dunes nearby are super nice!
