Westhove Castle was once a mighty castle. The castle was already mentioned in a deed from 1277. It belonged to the abbey in Middelburg. It is not clear how old the castle was at that time. And by whom it was built. Not much remains of the medieval castle. But enough to still spark the imagination! You can still see the lower parts of some towers and some parts of the wall work. The castle is largely freely accessible. The Terra Maris Museum is located in the former orangery. In addition, a replica of a medieval motte castle has been set up in the garden of the castle. There is a hostel in the castle and in the coach houses.

Kasteel Westhove as a youth hostel Top. Family room in the tower in the winter months possible with dog. Unfortunately, the guests with dogs did not follow the rules, so now no dogs are allowed. At the castle directly a bike rental and a nice cafe. The beach is only ten minutes through the woods. In the forest we have often seen deer. Very nice nature trails and a clean beach, really recommendable.
