The arc of an ancient masonry, the remnant of the castle of the knights of Crogelstein, is arched over a narrow gorge below the church. In July 1523, soldiers of the Swabian Confederation set fire to the castle and laid four tons of powder under the large Wartturm, which lifted it from the ground and caused it to fall into the ditch.
