Today we undertook our second stage on and around the Fulda cycle path.
In the first third of the morning we followed the Fulda cycle path from Fulda to Niederjossa. The somewhat longer way back then ran through the Jossatal, to the district town of Lauterbach and through the health resort Bad Salzschlirf. We also paid a visit to the Wartenberg castle ruins and enjoyed the undisturbed and lonely stay.In hot temperatures we chose a brisk pace today to keep the time in the scorching sun as short as possible. Unfortunately, on the last kilometer before the end, Sylvia had a mishap with a rather violent fall, which she luckily survived with only minor wounds 😌The weekend in the Rhön definitely whetted the mood for more. 4 more tours to the point where the Fulda flows into the Weser are already planned and should follow as soon as possible 🤗

Start of a new series! 🤗
Since we left the Weser, I have been hoping that this unforgettable event will continue. Unfortunately, we ran out of river in Bremerhaven with its confluence with the North Sea, which makes it difficult to continue 😄
But if no sequel is possible, then at least a prequel! The Weser is created by the confluence of the Werra and Fulda in Hann. Münden. So why not visit and get to know your predecessors ?!
The Fulda is the first in our planning. Here is the first stage, which I have put together as a day round tour according to our proven scheme. If we had a decent river with the Weser right from the start, which we could ride on both sides, this is more modest on the Fulda. My stage planning therefore only runs partially along the Fulda and on the Fulda Cycle Path and otherwise leads to the surrounding country and to it selected and worth seeing sites.
The first (and perhaps also the most spectacular) stage begins in Fulda and runs in the first half on the Milseburgradweg and brings us to the Wasserkuppe. From the Fulda spring located there, we follow the Fulda (and the official bike path) on our way back to Fulda 😉😊

Thank you, Tom, for your recommendation from Hersbrucker Switzerland, which formed the basis of our tour today!True to my motto "everything better than wet and cold", we took a nice, extensive tour through Franconian and Hersbrucker Switzerland on this hot summer day (and even almost made the 100 mark).Starting in Schnaittach, we first drove north to Obertrubach. From there our onward journey led eastwards (with a small excursion to the Stierberg castle ruins) to Betzenstein and beyond until we met the Pegnitz in Mosenberg. We now followed their course a long way down the river to Hersbruck (with a detour to the Steinerne Rinne near Düsselbach) before we finally took the way back to our starting point. What fascinated me most was the beautiful path along the Pegnitz, which I would at least partially compare with the Wiesent and Aufseßtal.

Our first 100 tour of the year 😊
I apologize for the flood of images, but it was a particularly beautiful tour with so many different highlights and impressions.
Starting in Hochstadt am Main, our route led along the Rodach in the first part. We dedicated the impressive city of Kronach (with its medieval old town) some time before we followed the picturesque Rodach Valley further upriver.
After Wallenfels we finally parted from the Wild Rodach and continued our way in the second part over heights and through valleys of the Franconian Forest. I was even more excited than the Steinachklamm by the sensational views over the Franconian Forest. A small mountain bike insert in the middle brought us, among other things. to the Kupferberg quarry, which was also an impressive sight.
When we reached the Schorgast we followed it to its mouth in the White Main, which initiated part 3 of the tour. After a stop with a stop in Kulmbach, our way back along the Main led us back to the starting point.

Today's tour had already given me great anticipation when planning and set high expectations, which it fully met.
A circular tour between Donau-Ries and Altmühl, starting in Wemding. At Treuchtlingen I couldn't resist the temptation to get an impression of the mountain bike area HeumördernTrails. In general, the tour led on some sections through more demanding terrain and paths that are not exactly designed for trekking bikes 😉 (respect, Ilau, for complaining without complaint! 👍)
After a section along the Altmühl, where we paid a visit to the Fossa Carolina (a forerunner of the Ludwig-Danube-Main Canal), our path led us to the stone gutter near Wolfsbronn. The Katharinenkapelle near Hechlingen also made a great impression on us, where we could enjoy the atmospheric location and its view undisturbed. After a leisurely stop at Hechlinger Hahnenkammsee (with an involuntary bath on my part when the nettle-maltreated legs cooled down 🙈😅), we started the return trip to Wemding.
Approx. 5km distance and a few meters in altitude can be saved if you can do without losing a smartphone and then track it down auf

Our last, eventful tour through the Aischgrund had many wonderful memories. Therefore, the decision was quickly made to explore the varied landscape in another tour.
It was another great day and Sylvia even had the opportunity to practice her mountain bike training in the small bike park Markt Erlbach.
Oh yes, counting the ponds is hopeless in the region 🤣

At the end of our weekend in Franconian Switzerland, a gourmet tour was on the program today. Even though I already knew every section of the route, I wanted to do the tour in one piece.
Yesterday we had numerous, very different highlights on the route, today there were essentially 2 persistent highlights: the Wiesent and the Aufseßtal. A scenic delight and with great trails for hiking and mountain biking.
After the bright sunshine yesterday, we had to be content with somewhat changeable weather today. In the mornings the sun still liked to be seen, but was increasingly displaced by a thick cloud cover. Nevertheless, it was a lot of fun, even if the impressions in the Aufseßtal lack a bit of the shine. And culinary we got our money's worth, which is why more discipline is imposed again at the beginning of the week.
