The war memorial at the fork in the road to Sanspareil and Grossenhül was built after the First World War from large boulders that the locals had collected from the fields. The stones are said to be from the Ice Age. They are said to have been washed up by a glacier. The building is modeled on the prehistoric burial mounds in northern Germany. It was inaugurated during a big celebration in 1921.
